A.E. „Dusty“ Durrant

Looking very similar to the South African Railways class 12A, Witbank Colliery’s 4-8-2 No. 5 had been ordered new to that same basic design - but without superheating - from the North British Locomotive Company in 1947. It is seen hauling a load of coal to the SAR interchange sidings - 26th April 1969. This negative has a number of "pinholes" in the emulsion of the upper half of the image - and may require some extensive work to improve.
