On the sustained gradient at Lunsklip near Potgietersrus, Northern Transvaal, South African Railways 24-class 2-8-4 No. 3638 and 19D-class 4-8-2 No. 2735 work hard with a freight train on the Pretoria - Pietersburg line - 22nd September 1968. The lightweight "Berkshire" had been built by the North British Locomotive Company under Hyde Park, Glasgow works number 26350/1949 whilst No. 2735 had come from Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns w/no. 7248/1946.
