SAR South African Railways
South African Railways class 15F 4-8-2 No. 2967 heading a freight train passes the distinctive conical koppie at Flonker near Rosmead Cape Midlands in May 1968. First introduced in 1938, as a development of the earlier 15E design but with Walschaerts valve gear, the majority of this large and highly successful mixed-traffic type had been delivered post-WWII by Beyer Peacock and the North British Locomotive Co. No. 2967 had been built by Beyer Peacock & Co. under Gorton Foundry works number 7082/1944.
