A South African Railways class 15F 4-8-2 locomotive passes through a narrow cutting, leading to one of the tunnels on the Cape Midlands route, with a freight train in May 1968. It is fitted with a steam-operated smoke-cowl, designed to assist crews when passing through unventilated sections.
